Men's Golf In Ninth After First Two Rounds

Southeastern's Jacques Chevallier fired an opening round 66 followed by an afternoon 71 to move the Lions into first place following the first day of action at the 12th annual Beau Chene Collegiate Classic at Beau Chene Country Club on Monday.
Chevallier is currently in first place at seven-under par, 137, and leads Ole Miss' J.J. Thompson by two strokes. The Lions as a team also lead the field by two strokes turning in a 36-hole total of nine-under par, 567. Ole Miss, the first round leader at 283 along with Sam Houston, fired an afternoon 286 to slip behind Southeastern, which posted the lowest round of the day at 281.
The Lions and Rebels were the only teams to finish the day under par with Campbell and Sam Houston State tied for third at even par.
Sophmore Graeme McDowell of UAB shot rounds of 74-70 and is tied for 14th.
Tuesday's final 18-holes will begin with a fixed start beginning at 8 a.m.
