UAB Head Coach Murry Bartow
"I thought we got off to a quick start, which was important. Two
double-doubles, Will Campbell and Eric Batchelor, which is very good. Tony
(Johnson) has a stress fracture in his foot, which we're very concerned
with. He could have played tonight, but we decided to not start him and
then, based on the way the game was going, proceed from there. It was
important for Asa (Woods) to play in case Tony does go down. He played 22
minutes tonight and I thought he played pretty well. I thought some good
things came from this game. Eric had five three pointers tonight.
Campbell is continuing to play well. I think LeAndrew (Bass) continues to
play well. Centenary is well-coached. Their coach does a nice job. We
were concerned with this game. This was a must game, a must win."
On the play of Centenary guard Ronnie McCollum
"He's a very, very good player. I thought we did a nice job on him. David
Walker had him a good bit, Will Campbell had him some, Sidney Ball had him
some, so we tried to keep a fresh body on him, a bigger body. He's done
well at Centenary."
