Men's Golf Finishes Eleventh At Gator Invitational

The no.8-ranked UAB men's golf team shot a final round 285 to finish eleventh at the Sun Trust Gator Invitational Sunday Feb. 11. The no.23-ranked University of Florida shot a tournament record score of 810 (-30) to win its home tournament for the 17th time.
The Gators shot a three-day total of 810 (-30) including a 265 (-15) in the final round to set the team tournament record. The previous record was set last year when the Gators shot a 805 (-25) to win the Invitational by 19 strokes.
Junior Camilo Benedetti of Florida won the invitational with a three-round score of 196 (-14). His three round total broke the invitational record for an individual set last year by Alex Rocha of Mississippi State.
UAB sophomores Graeme McDowell (no.16, 72-67-71) and Daniel Ozley (no.71, 71-70-69) both shot a final score of 210 (E) to finish tied for 21st. Junior Payton Osborn (no.75) tied for 44th after shooting a final round 73 (70-72-75) for a 215 (+5) tournament total.
Other Blazer scores include Craig Gordon (71-74-72/217)finishing tied for 52nd and Chris Cousins (74-70-74/218) finishing tied for 58th.
The Blazers will return to the course Feb. 19-20 when they travel to Covington, La. to play in the Beau Chene Collegiate.
