Women's Soccer Plays In Regular Season Finale Friday

BIRMINGHAM - This Friday marks a key Conference USA game for the UAB women's soccer team as they travel to Tampa, Fla. to take on the struggling 4-2-12 South Florida Bulls. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m and is the regular season finale for both teams.
UAB (9-8, 6-3 C-USA) currently sits at sixth in the C-USA standings, while South Florida (4-12-2, 1-7-1 C-SA) ranks 13th in the standings. If UAB wins, they will clinch sixth spot and earn a spot in the C-USA Tournament Nov. 7-10 in Milwaukee, Wis. The Blazers are 3-1-1 all-time versus the Bulls. The two teams tied 2-2 during their last meeting in Tampa, Fla.
The Blazers have won their last two matches defeating Mercer 2-0 and Memphis 3-1. Junior forward Adrienne Suffridge (Columbia, S.C.) has 18 points for the Blazers with six goals and six assists. Senior forward Denise Peters (Jacksonville, Ala.) leads with seven goals and sits in second with 17 points for the Blazers.
Junior goalkeeper Lisa Nowoslawski (Melbourne, Fla.) earned the shutout for the Blazers against Mercer, her fifth this season. She has a 1.13 goals against average and has only allowed 19 goals this season.
South Florida has lost its last seven games, with its most recent loss coming Wed. night in Miami falling 2-0. Stine Hagh leads the Bulls with five goals and Rachel Thjomoe is on top with 14 points.
