Women's Soccer Defeats Memphis 3-1

BIRMINGHAM - Adrienne Suffridge (Columbia, S.C.) scored two goals in a two-minute span to lift the UAB women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Memphis in Conference USA play Friday night at UAB's West Campus Field.
UAB is now 8-8 overall and 6-3 in C-USA. Memphis is 4-12-1 and 2-7 in the league.
Suffridge led an attack that saw UAB score three goals in the final 16 minute of the match. She scored her first goal over a fallen Memphis goalkeeper at the 74:09 mark.
Suffridge's second goal came at the 76:21 mark on a header from the right side. Denise Peters (Jacksonville, Ala.) garnered the assist.
Peters finished off the Blazers scoring in the 82nd minute with a header in front of the goal. Briana McCarty (Lawrenceville, Ga.) had the assist.
Memphis took a 1-0 lead just 1:57 into the second half when Allison Baker scored on a header in front of the goal on a free kick from Michelle Sorensen. The Tigers made that hold up until UAB's late barrage.
This was the final home match of the season for UAB. The Blazers play at Mercer, Sunday afternoon 1 p.m. CST.
