Women's Basketball Loses To Auburn In Overtime, 79-71

AUBURN, Ala. - Lori Nero had 24 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 11 Auburn scored 10 straight points in overtime to beat UAB 79-71 on Wednesday night.
Carol Smith added 15 points for Auburn (8-0), Tasha Hamilton had 14, LaRi Spencer 11 and Shera Looney 10.
With the score tied at 69 with 3:22 left in overtime, Nero, Looney and Spencer combined for six free throws as Auburn took a 79-69 lead.
Christina Smith scored the final two points of the game on free throws for UAB (5-3), which is winless on the road this season.
Deanna Jackson led UAB with 21 points and nine rebounds. Mia Thrash scored 20 points, and Natasha Thomas had 11.
The Tigers outshot UAB 51 percent to 39 percent.
Auburn has won nine straight games against the Blazers.
