UAB Women's Soccer Shuts Out Jacksonville State

The UAB women's soccer team (1-1-1, 0-0-0 in Conference USA) shut out Jacksonville State (1-1-0, 0-0-0 in the Trans America Athletic Conference) 2-0 at West Campus Field.
Freshman Maile Kruse struck first for the Blazers, finding the back of the net from five yards out 40 seconds into the match. UAB led 1-0 at the half.
Freshman Jessica Samulski had the lone goal of the second half for UAB, rebounding a ball off the goalkeeper at the 85:31 mark.
UAB outshot the Gamecocks 16-6 on the match. Adriana Finelli had three saves and picked up the loss for Jacksonville State while Jen Braly recorded a victory in goal for UAB.
UAB travels to Charlottesville, Va. Monday to face Virginia at 7 p.m. (ET).
