Saint Louis Defeats UAB 3-1 in Women's Soccer

Saint Louis collected a pair of second half goals to break a deadlocked score at halftime to defeat UAB 3-1 in Conference USA women's soccer action here Sunday afternoon.
The Blazers (3-13-2 overall, 2-8-1 in C-USA play) were down a goal when Stephanie Davis (Huntsville, Ala.) garnered her second goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1. Davis, on a pass from Denise Peters (Jacksonville, Ala.), hit a header past the keeper from five yards out at the 33:28 mark.
The score stayed that way until the Billikens (12-3-3, 8-0-3) took the lead for good with a close in goal from Shannon Myers at 67:40 and then added an insurance goal at 80:40 as Katie Zaegel blasted a goal from 10 yards out.
SLU began its scoring with a 15-yard shot that got by UAB goalkeeper Lisa Nowoslawski in the upper right portion of the goal at the 25:50 point of the first half. Nowoslawski did record nine saves on the afternoon for UAB.
The Blazers complete their 2000 season next Friday when they play at Ole Miss. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
