Charlotte Shuts Out UAB Women's Soccer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Meredith Mayo got the only goal in the opening half, before Sarah Judy and Dawn Geyeradded scores in the final 45 minutes to lead Charlotte to a 3-0 Conference USA women's soccer victory over UAB Sunday.
The Blazers (1-5-2 overall, 0-2-1 in C-USA play) had seven different players each take a shot on the afternoon, but the 49ers were able to put points on the board and got the game's first goal in the 21st minute as Mayo collected her second tally of the year.
Charlotte (5-4-0, 2-0-0) added two insurance goals in the game's final 10 minutes as Judy collected her first goal of the season in the 81st minute and Geyer notched her second of the season less than five minutes later to cap the scoring.
Despite surrendering three goals, UAB keeper Lisa Nowoslawski added four saves on the afternoon as the49ers took 15 shots on the day.
UAB, who battled South Florida to a 2-all, double overtime tie Friday in Tampa, return to action Friday at home when they play host to Auburn. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. at West Campus Field.
