Graeme McDowell Named Conference USA Player Of The Month

Graeme McDowell of the UAB men's golf team has been named Conference USA Player of the Month for October.
The sophomore from Portrush, N. Ireland was a tremendous asset for the Blazers this month propelling them to four top-five finshes including a second place finish at the Pacific Invitational (Oct. 2-3) in Stockton, California. the team has a 53-11 overall record on the month and is 5-0 in Conference USA. Individually, McDowelll had three top-ten finishes during the month.
At the VCU Fall Preview (Oct. 23-24) in Williamsburg, Va., McDowell finished tied for third in a field of 120 competitors. He shot a six-under par 66 in the first round and finished with a three-under par total (66-72-75).
McDowell also finished tied for third at the Pacific Invitational playing all three rounds under par. He finished with a six-under par total (69-71-70).
In eleven rounds, he posted a 70.9 scoring average and has ranked as high as sixth on the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index Poll.
