BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Reserves Tasha Wagner and Amanda Onnen each collected a goal in the second half to lift Cincinnati to a 2-1 Conference USA women's soccer victory over UAB here Friday night at West Campus Field.
The Bearcats (10-5-0 overall, 6-2-0 in C-USA) won for the third straight time while the Blazers fell to 2-10-2 and 1-6-1.
Denise Peters, the reigning C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, scored her third goal in her last two matches by recorded the Blazers' lone goal of the game at the 22:20 mark. Peters struck a nice cross from Katja Lerew past the UC keeper for the game's first score.
The game remained that way for 40 minutes, before Wagner struck paydirt five yards in front of the goal at 62:41. The Bearcats added the game winner at 75:25 on a header by Onnen. That goal was setup by nice entry pass from Krsitina Wilson.
The Blazers return to action Sunday when they take on Louisville in a 3 p.m. match at West Campus Field. The women's match will follow a 1 p.m. men's soccer affair featuring UAB and South Florida.
