Spencer Wright enters his first year with UAB Athletics as the Athletics Media Assistant, serving as the primary media relations contact for volleyball, softball and bowling.
Wright joined UAB in August 2026 following one year at the University of Montevallo, where he served as an Assistant Director of Media Relations. During his time at Montevallo, he was the primary media relations contact for baseball, volleyball, wrestling, men's and women's swimming, and men's and women's tennis, while also serving as the primary voice of Falcon Baseball.
Prior to Montevallo, Wright spent three years at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. He joined the Blazers in August 2022 as a Graduate Assistant in Athletics Communications before being promoted in February 2023 to Assistant Sports Information Director and Coordinator of Digital Media.
At Belhaven, Wright led the department's digital media efforts, with an emphasis on social media, and served as the department's primary graphic designer.
During his tenure, he grew the main X account by 37% and established consistent social media branding across Belhaven Athletics.
Wright also played a key role in maintaining athletic statistics and records and contributed as a secondary broadcaster for the Blazers Sports Network. Additionally, he helped enhance the gameday experience at Belhaven's home athletic events, serving as the lead videoboard content creator for baseball, football and soccer.
Before joining Belhaven, Wright worked on the Marketing and Promotions team for the Mississippi Braves, the former Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.
A native of Madison, Mississippi, Wright earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mississippi State University in December 2021 before completing a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Administration from Belhaven University in May 2024.
Wright and his wife, Rush, reside in Birmingham, Alabama.
