Reilly Jeffers enters his fourth season at UAB in 2026 as the Blazersβ tight ends coach.
Jeffers has overseen the tight ends room since arriving in Birmingham in 2023 and has helped develop a versatile position group that contributes in both the passing and running games. In 2025, Elijah Lagg and Gabriel Cline combined for 32 receptions, 388 yards and four touchdowns, while Brayden Johnson, Joshua Rubin, Antonio Ferguson, Aaron Mattingly and Connor Harby all saw action for the Blazers.
Prior to joining UAB, Jeffers spent two seasons at Ohio State as an offensive assistant from 2021-22. During his time in Columbus, the Buckeyes compiled a 22-4 record, won a Rose Bowl championship and reached the College Football Playoff. Ohio Stateβs offense ranked among the nationβs most explosive units, producing multiple NFL Draft selections and several All-Americans.
Before Ohio State, Jeffers served as tight ends coach at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tenn., where he helped guide one of the stateβs premier high school programs. He also worked as a graduate assistant at Florida Atlantic in 2019, gaining experience in all facets of offensive operations.
Jeffers began his coaching career after completing his playing career at Kansas, where he earned a bachelorβs degree in 2015. A native of South Bend, Ind., he has quickly established himself as one of the rising young coaches in the profession through stops at the Power Four, Group of Five and high school levels.
Jeffers and his wife, Jamie, have one son, Major.
