Hunter Veach

Hunter Veach enters his first season as UAB's associate head coach in 2027 after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Texas Tech.
Veach helped the Red Raiders reach the Women's College World Series championship series in consecutive seasons in 2025 and 2026 while compiling a 115-24 record during his two seasons in Lubbock. Working primarily with the team's defense, he helped establish Texas Tech as one of the nation's top defensive programs.
Prior to joining Texas Tech, Veach spent the 2024 season at Louisiana as the Ragin' Cajuns' primary defensive coach. Under his direction, Louisiana turned an NCAA-leading 46 double plays, more than the program had recorded over the previous three seasons combined. The Ragin' Cajuns also raised their conference fielding percentage from .968 in 2023 to .983 in 2024.
Veach spent the 2023 season at Texas A&M as the director of player development before returning to the coaching ranks at Louisiana.
A native of Selma, Alabama, Veach is no stranger to UAB, having previously spent two seasons with the Blazers from 2021-22. He joined the program as a volunteer assistant in October 2020 before being promoted to assistant coach in August 2021.
During his time with the Blazers, UAB won 31 games in 2021 and advanced to the Conference USA Championship Game. The program also posted its highest winning percentage since 2015 and recorded the second-best conference winning percentage in program history at the time.
In 2022, Veach helped guide a UAB defense that ranked fifth nationally with 0.55 double plays per game, turning 28 double plays on the season.
Veach's coaching background also includes stops at Auburn and AUM, as well as extensive professional and international experience. He was a member of Auburn's staff when the Tigers finished as the national runner-up at the 2016 Women's College World Series and later helped the program advance to an NCAA Super Regional in 2017.
At AUM, Veach helped the Warhawks capture consecutive NAIA national championships in 2014 and 2015. He later served as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Comets of National Pro Fastpitch and as head coach of the Beijing Shougang Eagles. His experience also includes work with the Chinese women's national team and Women's Professional Fastpitch.
Veach earned his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Auburn in 2017.
