Alex Shillow joined Blazer Boosters in December of 2021 and currently serves as the Associate Director of Development. In this role, he actively assists with growing the annual fund membership while focusing on mid level fundraising to all UAB Athletics priorities. Alex also oversees premium parking and tailgate, and the Blazer Boosters marketing efforts. He is the direct liaison for Football, Men's Soccer, and Rifle sport gift accounts.
Prior to joining the UAB Athletics Department, Shillow worked as the Athletics External and Development Assistant at Texas A&M University-Commerce. In this role, Alex managed an annual fund portfolio as well as the Varsity L Club - Former Student-Athlete Association, and led the department in generating ticket revenue for football. He also spent time at Learfield and gained experience working and managing NCAA Championship events.
A native of Texas, Shillow played football for five years at Texas A&M-Commerce where he completed a stellar athletic career and graduated with a degree in Sport and Recreation Management. During his time as a student-athlete, Alex served on the Division II National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), while chairing the group for two years. He also graduated with his MBA from Texas A&M-Commerce in December 2020.
Alex has a passion for positively impacting the student-athlete experience, is an avid sports fan, and loves a game of sand volleyball in his free time.
