Head coach Delaney Rose named former Blazer Dylynn Otte as the assistant coach of the UAB beach volleyball program on Sept. 9, 2023. Otte spent two seasons on staff.
A 2024 recipient of the AVCA Thirty Under 30, Otte helped guide the Blazers through the most successful stretch in program history. In 2026, UAB posted a program-record 26 wins and went undefeated in Conference USA play .
Otte played a key role in the development of UAB’s first AVCA All-Americans in Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant, who earned second-team honors in 2026. The duo set program records for single-season wins (29), wins as a pair (29) and Court 1 victories (29) .
In 2025, Otte helped guide the Blazers to a then-program-record 21 wins , while Haas and Stant established a program-record 26 wins as a duo at the time .
Otte also helped guide UAB to a school-record 19 wins in her first season on staff (2023-24), while assisting in the development of Arden Copping, who became the program’s all-time wins leader at the time (70).
Additionally, the beach volleyball program had the highest collective GPA of any team at UAB during the 2023-24 school year and was awarded the AVCA Team Academic Award.
Otte was a member of the beach program from 2020-22 and served as team captain in 2021 and 2022. She was a staple in the middle of UAB's lineup playing a versatile role as a both a blocker and defender.Otte compiled 24 total wins as a Blazer and is tied for seventh all-time for Court 2 wins.
Following graduation, Otte spent one year working in the medical field within UAB at the 1917 clinic, then moved to St. Petersburg, Fla. to train professionally in the sand while also serving as the NexGen Director and Head Coach for Optimum Beach Volleyball Club, along with doing private lessons with Edge Volleyball Training. Otte also served as a program coordinator for Alabama Performance Volleyball Club from 2020-23 while in Birmingham.
Otte was a four-year indoor player and two-year captain at SIU Edwardsville from 2016-19 before doing a graduate transfer to UAB beach volleyball in 2020. She graduated with a 3.8 GPA in public health at SIUE and earned a 3.86 GPA in her master's program of public health in Epidemiology at UAB.
