Adrianna Nora was named the UAB beach volleyball assistant coach on January 4, 2021 and is in her first year with the program.
Following an All-American career as a right side hitter at the University of Minnesota, Nora then became a profession beach volleyball player on the AVP and has consistently placed at the top of numerous open level beach tours nationwide.
“I am beyond excited to coach alongside Terri Del Conte and continue to build UAB into a national brand,” Nora said. “The opportunity to crack into the college coaching ranks at a school like UAB is something I am very grateful for. The Blazers are a team on the rise in the CCSA and nationally, and I look forward to helping this program achieve new milestones.”
After a standout high school career in which she led Stillwater Area HS to its first-ever Minnesota state tournament and back-to-back conference titles, Nora signed with Baylor University and played her first two seasons in Waco. In her first year with the Bears, Nora was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.
Following her sophomore year, Nora transferred to her home state and finished her career at Minnesota. As a junior, she earned Honorable Mention All-America honors and was an All-North Region selection. That season, she ranked fourth on the team in kills with 218 while maintaining a .303 hitting percentage. In her senior year, she appeared in 27 matches, 86 sets, and was named to two All-Tournament teams, including winning MVP at the Yale Tournament.
Nora turned professional on the beach circuit in 2017 and won six tournaments on the open level nationwide tours. Her first season on the AVP Tour was in 2019 where she placed in multiple AVPnext events.
While she was playing professionally, Nora also coached for Optimum Beach Club in St. Petersburg, Fla., from 2018-2020 before accepting her current position at UAB.
Nora graduated from Minnesota in 2015 with a degree in communications with an emphasis in sign language.
