Golden Girls Auditions: April 11-12, 2025

What to Wear: Please wear a solid colored top and black dance shorts. Bring jazz shoes and athletic shoes.
Time: Friday, April 11 - Doors open at 3 p.m.
What To Bring: Headshot, UAB acceptance letter or proof of current enrollment, $75 audition fee.
Thank you for your interest in the Golden Girls dance team at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Not only are we fortunate to have one of the top educational institutions in the country, but one of the finest spirit programs as well. We are very serious about the excellence of our department and are actively seeking quality individuals to utilize their talents, while pursuing a higher education, to be a part of the Golden Girls.
We are always looking for quality people to fulfill the role of ambassadors for the University, and new talent to strengthen our competitive squad. We are looking for strong technique in jazz, pom and hip hop as well as being physically fit dancers.
What you need to bring with you to auditions:
1) Headshot or professional photo
2) Copy of Acceptance letter to UAB
We will continue to post more information on the UAB Golden Girls social media accounts so be sure to follow us on Facebook through the UAB Spirit Teams page and on Instagram (uabgoldengirls).
The following will be included at auditions:
• Turns in Second (at least three counts of eight, should be an advanced combination that includes changing spots, floats, or other pirouette elements)
• All leaps and jumps
• Flexibility
• Acrobatic Skills (highly recommended): Aerial (right or left) and any other tumbling skills of your choice
• Headspring
• kip up
• front handspring
• rubber band
• front aerials
• additional tumbling (i.e. backhand springs, tucks, etc.)

We will also ask to see the following:
• 30-second solo to showcase your skill set. You will provide your own music upon registration for this portion of auditions. Please incorporate technique, skills and choreography that highlight you and your strengths as a dancer. These solos will be performed in the first round of the audition on Saturday, April 12.
As a selected member of the Golden Girls, you are required to perform at the following events:
• Home Football Games
• Home Men's and Women's Basketball Games
• Home Volleyball Games
• UDA College National Dance Team Championships
• Golden Girls Workshop weekend (June)
• UDA College Summer Camp (July)
• Other campus/community appearance as requested
