Alvin Franklin joined the UAB Athletics Department in June of 2017 as the Development Associate. In his role, Franklin primarily focuses on daily gift processing, updating donor database, coordinating gift acknowledgements and preparing weekly reports. In addition, Franklin assists with producing the content for the branding and messaging of Blazer Boosters, assisting with Blazer Reps, daily inner office responsibilities and assisting with game day operations and special events.
Franklin comes to UAB after working at Hinds Community College as the Sports Information Director/Assistant Baseball Coach-Recruiting Coordinator. In the office, he oversaw the promotion of Hinds athletics by developing marketing strategies to promote athletic teams and sporting events. On the field, Franklin managed the outfielders, assisted with the hitters and baserunners and led the recruiting efforts for the Eagles.
Prior to his time at Hinds, he served as a graduate assistant in athletic development with the Bulldog Club at Mississippi State. While there, Franklin aided in donor account management, assisted with athletic development initiatives and special events and oversaw the charitable request program. While at Mississippi State, Franklin was a part of the 2016 NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar class.
A native of Jackson, MS, Alvin played baseball at Jackson State University where he graduated with a degree in Economics. While at Jackson State, he worked in the compliance office. Franklin holds a master’s degree in sport administration from Mississippi State University.
