UAB's Frazier Receives NCAA Silver Anniversary Award

The Silver Anniversary Award recognizes former student-athletes who have distinguished themselves since completing their college athletics careers 25 years ago.
Frazier,
who has held the athletics director post at UAB since August 2000, has
experienced the athletic world as both a veteran of over 20 years as an
athletic administrator as well as from the perspective of an elite athlete.
A
1977 graduate of Arizona State University, Frazier was one of the Sun
Devils' most successful track and field student-athletes.? In addition to serving as captain of
Arizona State's 1977 national champion track and field team, Frazier is a
former world record-holder in the indoor 500-meter and outdoor 4 x 200 meter
relay, former American record-holder in the outdoor 400 meters, and was the
1977 NCAA 400-meter champion.
Frazier
went on to a very successful career in international track and field
competition, highlighted by a gold medal in the 4x400 relay in the 1976
Olympics in Montreal. He is still extremely active in the Olympic movement,
currently serving as a Vice-President of the U.S. Olympic Committee.? He also has many years of service with
various NCAA advisory committees, and has been a member of the Fiesta Bowl
Board of Directors for several years.
