UAB Will Unveil New Blazer Club Friday Night

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB Athletics is merging its Team UAB and Golden 100 scholarship groups into a single organization benefiting all University sports - the Blazer Club.
UAB President Carol Garrison and Athletics Director Watson Brown will introduce the the official merger and formation of the Blazer Club this Friday, May 2 at a dinner in Bartow Arena.
Previously, there has been a Team UAB group for Blazer football while Golden 100 members have been the primary scholarship backers of the UAB basketball program. The Blazer Club will be an organization whose members' contributions will benefit student-athlete scholarships in all intercollegiate sports at UAB.
"We're very excited about the Blazer Club and what its creation means," said UAB Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs Brian Mackin, who oversees development and fund-raising for the athletics program. "We think the union of these two scholarship groups into one all-inclusive organization will be extremely positive for UAB Athletics. It will truly be an organization committed to helping all of our student-athletes succeed."
