Blazer Day 2003 Set For Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Blazer Day 2003 will be held Saturday with football and baseball, food and fun for all ages, including ice cream flavors created by UAB athletic director & football coach Watson Brown, men's basketball coach Mike Anderson and baseball coach Larry Giangrosso.
Fans looking for a sweet treat will want to stop by the Cold Stone Creamery stand to enjoy a cup of ice cream. As part of the Blazer Day festivities, the trio of Blazer coaches chose their favorite flavors and those concoctions will be sold Saturday to benefit Blazer Athletics. The cups will be sold for $4 with half of that contributed to UAB Athletics.
In addition, half of the sales generated at the Hoover Cold Stone Store (located at 2772 John Hawkins Pkwy.-Hwy. 150) will benefit the Blazers' athletic program.
Here are the ice cream flavors fans will choose from:
Coach Watson Brown's flavor: "Brown-E Blitz" - Chocolate ice cream with brownies, fudge, and caramel
Coach Mike Anderson's flavor: "Slam Dunk Strawberries" - French vanilla ice cream with strawberries and graham cracker crust
Coach Larry Giangrosso's flavor: "Blazers Loaded" - Sweet cream ice cream with white chocolate chips and Oreo crumbles.
Blazer Day will be held at West Campus Field and Young Memorial Field on the UAB campus. There will be plenty of food and fun for all ages, as well as the feature attractions: the 2003 Spring Football Scrimmage and the Blazers' baseball game vs. TCU.
The football scrimmage will start at 1:30 p.m. at West Campus Field while UAB takes on the C-USA foe Horned Frogs at Young Memorial Field starting at 3:00 p.m.
