UAB Women’s Golf Finishes Ninth at Hoover Invite

HOOVER, Ala. – Led by Brooke Wagner's top five individual finish, the UAB women's golf team placed ninth at the Hoover Invitational this week at the Hoover Country Club.
Wagner played extremely well throughout the duration of the two-day tournament, shooting 72-71-74 = 217 (+1) and has now shot at or under par in three of her six rounds played this year.
Wagner's top five finish was UAB's only inside the top 45 for those who counted for the team score. Lauren Gilchrist was UAB's second finisher at +17 and tied in a tie for 46th overall, and was followed by Grace Sinclair (+19, T54), Chloe Ruble (+20, T57) and Anna Krieger (+23, 74th).
The Blazers also had five individuals players and were led by freshman Zoe Hobbs who tied for 42nd at +16. The other individuals included Tais Moreno (+18, T48), Ava Schwartz (+19, T54), Ceci Lococo (+24, T75) and Tori Waters (+24, T75).
Alabama won the team tournament by nine strokes over ULM, while Samford's Gabi Nicastro (-5) won the individual title for a second straight year.
The Blazers return to action Diane Thomason Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
