Rifle Finishes Fourth at SoCon Championships, Comstock Named Freshman of the Year

CHARLESTON, S.C. – UAB Rifle wrapped up the 2023-24 campaign on Sunday at the Southern Conference Championships. The Blazers placed fourth with an aggregate score of 4605.
Each team competed in smallbore on Saturday and air rifle on Sunday. Gracie Turk was the Blazers' top overall performer with an 1153 aggregate score, followed by Amy Kohan with an 1148 and Christopher Comstock and Meghan McLaughlin who tied with an 1143.
In smallbore, Emily Buck led the way for UAB, posting a team-high 575. Comstock added a 572 while McLaughlin shot a 571. The Blazers recorded the second-highest team smallbore score, finishing behind only Georgia Southern.
Gracie Turk was UAB's highest scorer in air rifle, shooting a 584 while Amy Kohan and Brent Ling each followed with a 581.
Georgia Southern took home the conference title for the third straight season with an aggregate score of 4725 while sweeping both the smallbore and air rifle team titles and individual titles.
UAB's Christopher Comstock was voted Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches.
