Women’s Golf Finishes 11th at Bama Beach Bash

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The UAB women's golf team finished in 11th place at the Bama Beach Bash this week at Gulf Shores Golf Club.
Due to severe weather during Sunday's first round, the 17-team field was only able to complete 36 holes. Half of the field started the first round on Sunday and then finished the round on Monday, while the other half of the field played 18 holes on Monday and everyone played 18 on Tuesday.
The Blazers fielded all 11 players for this tournament with Brooke Wagner, Emilia Smith, Grace Sinclair, Tais Moreno and Ava Schwartz counting towards the team score.
However, it was freshman Ceci Lococo who had UAB's lowest score of +7 as she tied for 24th overall. Lococo shot a 74 in round one and a 77 in round two.
Anna Krieger also played as an individual and was UAB's second finisher at +10 (74-80).
From a team perspective, Emilia Smith paced the Blazers by tying for 39th overall. Smith shot +1 (73) in the first round but fell in round two with a +10 (83) to finish at +11 overall.
Wagner (77-79, +12)) tied for 46th, and was followed by Moreno, Schwartz and Sinclair who all tied for 60th at +15. Schwartz shot a collegiate low 72 (E) in the first round.
The Blazers head west next weekend for the Fresno State Classic on March 25-26.
