UAB Defeats Samford in Head-to-Head Battle

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's golf team opened its spring season by defeating Samford in a head-to-head matchup at Hoover Country Club on Saturday.
Brooke Wagner led the Blazers by shooting even par and UAB posted the top four lowest scores of the day. Tais Moreno (Ind) was +1, while Grace Sinclair (+4) and Emilia Smith (+5) contributed to the team score with great rounds for the Blazers.
The win over Samford gives UAB a 1-0 record for spring action and the Blazers already have 15 more wins this year than they did all of last season with 21 victories.
UAB opens tournament play on Feb. 11 at the UNCG/Advance Golf Partners Collegiate in West Palm Beach, Fla.
