Six Blazers Earn AAC Postseason Honors

BIRMINGHAM – Led by three Blazers who earned First Team All-Conference, six UAB football players received American Athletic Conference postseason honors on Tuesday.
First Team All-AAC
Desmond Little – Defensive End
Jonah Delange – Placekicker
Kam Shanks – Return Specialist
Third Team All-AAC
Kam Shanks – Wide Receiver
Lee Beebe Jr. – Running Back
Michael Moore – Linebacker
Honorable Mention All-AAC
Amare Thomas – Wide Receiver
Delange and Shanks headlined a special teams unit that was tremendous all season long. Delange was named the AAC Special Teams Player of the Year for his record-setting season as UAB's placekicker and Shanks led the nation in punt return yards (329), average (20.6) and touchdowns (2).
Little had a standout year on the edge for UAB, compiling 41 total tackles, 10 TFL and six sacks. Additionally, he added seven QBH, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Along with his punt return prowess, Shanks added 62 receptions for 656 yards and six touchdowns, which landed him as a Third Team All-Conference receiver. He was joined by running back Lee Beebe Jr. who finished the year with 884 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, and linebacker Michael Moore who led the Blazers with 92 tackles. Moore finished seventh in the AAC in tackles per game (7.66).
Thomas rounded out UAB's contingency of all-conference players by earning honorable mention. Thomas shared a team high in receptions with Shanks (62) and led UAB in receiving yards (670) and touchdowns (8).
