Jonah Delange Named AAC Special Teams Player of the Year

BIRMINGHAM – Sophomore placekicker Jonah Delange has been named the American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year, as announced by league officials on Tuesday.
Delange had a standout campaign in his first season handling placekicking duties for the Blazers. Delange finished the year making 21-of-24 field goals and all 31 of his point after attempts.
His 21 made field goals were the second most single season field goals in school history, while his .875 FG percentage ranks third at UAB in a single season. Delange's 31 made PAT are the fifth most without a miss in school history.
Delange was 2-for-2 from 50+, and his 52-yard make against Tulsa was tied for the third longest field goal in program history.
The Mobile, Ala., native was a Lou Groza Award semifinalist, and he also earned AAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 21 for his 4-for-4 performance at South Florida.
Delange led the team in scoring with 94 points, which were tied for the fourth most overall points scored in a season at UAB.
