BIRMINGHAM – Redshirt junior Brady Wilson has been named to Rimington Trophy Watch List, which is annually presented to the nation's top center.
Wilson is one of 40 centers nationally selected to the watch list and just one of two from the American Athletic Conference.
The Rimington Trophy committee worked with Pro Football Focus (PFF) to narrow down its list to the top 40 centers. PFF grades every player on every play of every game on how well they execute their given assignment. That play-by-play grading allowed the Trophy committee to create a watch list based both on nominations from the schools and data provided by PFF.
Despite only starting four games at center last year, PFF graded Wilson as one of the top centers in the American Athletic Conference heading into the 2023 season.
Wilson played in 11 games last year and was used as the sixth lineman in UAB's jumbo package, but was called into action as the starting center for the final four games of the regular season due to Will Rykard sustaining an injury.
With Wilson as the starting center, the Blazers averaged 31.5 points and 451.8 yards of offense per game. Now in his first season as the full-time starter, Wilson has seized the leadership role on the new-look offensive line which is replacing all five starters from last year.
The Blazers are just 27 days away from kicking off their inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference on Aug. 31 vs. North Carolina A&T at Protective Stadium.
Both season and single game tickets are on sale for the 2023 season and can be purchased by clicking here.
