BIRMINGHAM – UAB Cross Country enters the 2023 Season with four races on the docket, including appearances all over the Yellowhammer State and an outing in Louisville. Welcoming four new faces to the roster and returning nine, UAB has a veteran-heavy squad, including Kyra Hayes and Sangie Lincoln-Velez. The Blazers finished with two All-Conference nods.
The Green and Gold begin the season in Oxford at Choccolocco Park for the Foothills Invitational on Sept. 1, hosted by Jacksonville State. The Blazers return to a Gamecock-hosted event, the Southern Showcase, in Huntsville on Sept. 15.
For the Blazers' first out-of-state race of the season, the Green and Gold will travel to Louisville, Kentucky, where they'll compete in the Live in Louisville race to close out the month of September. The Green and Gold then return to Tuscaloosa, where they'll close out their final race of the regular season at the Alabama Crimson Classic, hosted by the Crimson Tide.
Entering the postseason, UAB travels to Greenville, North Carolina, to compete in the AAC Cross Country Championships on Oct. 28. The Blazers will have their first conference debut in the AAC before gearing up for the NCAA South Regional Champion, hosted by Florida.
