BIRMINGHAM – Entering the eighth year of its partnership with Children's Harbor which dates back to 2016, the UAB football team will wear its gray and lime jersey with the names of patients on their back twice this season at Protective Stadium.
Gray and Lime Jersey Schedule:
Oct. 7 – USF
Nov. 4 – Florida Atlantic
The seventh annual Children's Harbor game will be held during UAB's first home contest in the American Athletic Conference against USF. UAB is 5-1 all-time when playing the Children's Harbor game, including last year's 41-14 victory over Middle Tennessee.
The Blazers will then wear the gray uniforms again on Homecoming, which has become a tradition to wear these uniforms on Homecoming dating back to 2017.
The gray and lime jerseys, which have been featured on multiple national platforms throughout the years including SportsCenter, have an updated look this season, starting with a lime helmet decal and a lime helmet stripe. The shoulders feature a double stripe which then attached to a vertical white stripe down the collar bone.
Once again, this year's jerseys will have roughly 100 names of Children's Harbor patients on the back of the jersey, which will then be given to the patients at the end of the season.
Children's Harbor's mission is to strengthen families of seriously ill children through refuge, respite and resources. These unique, no-cost services are offered at both "The Harbor" Family Center located at Children's of Alabama in Birmingham, and at the Lake Martin retreat facility in Alexander City. Children's Harbor has been in service since 1989.
The Blazers are just three weeks away from opening the season on Aug. 31 at Protective Stadium against North Carolina A&T. Season and single game tickets are on sale by clicking here, while a special 2 for $23 ticket offer for the first game only is available here.
