Three from UAB Rifle Named SoCon Academic All-Conference

BIRMINGHAM – Jordan Blankenship, Claire Vonderau and Maggie Vonderau were each named to the Rifle SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, the league announced on Tuesday. To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the spring semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
Jordan Blankenship is a graduate student from Trussville, Ala. who is majoring in English and she holds a 4.0 GPA. She concluded her fifth season with the UAB Rifle program this spring.
Claire Vonderau is an Industrial Distribution major from Helena, Ala. and holds a 3.6 GPA. She was UAB's top performer during the conference championships, finishing with an overall score of 1152 while reaching the finals for the Air Rifle, finishing sixth.
Maggie Vonderau is a senior majoring in Kinesiology with a focus on Exercise Science and she holds a 3.71 GPA. She wrapped up her fourth season on the UAB Rifle team this year.
The UAB Rifle team finished fourth at the SoCon championships this spring.
