BIRMINGHAM – Conference USA announced the 2023 Men's Tennis All-Conference awards on Wednesday and three Blazers were recognized in Michal Lusovsky, Roman Postolka and Nikola Puric. UAB wrapped up the 2023 season with a 21-7 record and the second-most wins in program history.
Michal Lusovsky was named to the All-Conference USA Singles First Team after he put together an impressive 17-2 singles record during the 2023 season while playing on Court No. 1 for the Blazers. He opened the year with a win over then No. 36 Enzo Aguiard of Alabama in UAB's first match of the season and he was key in helping the Blazers pick up two ranked wins and improve their win total from eight to 21 over one season. During the year, he dropped only eight sets over his 21 matches on Court No. 1.
Roman Postolka earned All-Conference USA Singles Second Team honors after he amassed a 12-5 singles record for the Blazers while playing on Court No. 2. Against No. 20 Mississippi State, Postolka picked up a ranked win over No. 107 Petar Jovanovic. He helped UAB wins over two ranked opponents, including the deciding point in the win over No. 62 Rice in an epic three-set battle.
The doubles pairing of Roman Postolka and Nikola Puric was recognized as an All-Conference USA Second Team Doubles performer. The two earned a 6-2 record during the 2023 season. Individually, Postolka held a 13-5 record in doubles competition and Puric held a 14-4 record. The duo paired up midway through the season and became a force in doubles play down the stretch. Postolka and Puric helped secure a critical doubles point in the Blazers' win over No. 71 North Florida in the only doubles contest that did not go to a tiebreaker.
