UAB’s Season Comes to a Close With 3-0 Loss to No. 12 FIU

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The UAB beach volleyball team saw its season come to close on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to FIU in the Conference USA semifinals at Fort Lauderdale Beach.

The Blazers had a record-setting season with 18 team wins, including a win over the 12^th-ranked Panthers on Thursday which advanced UAB further in the conference tournament than ever before.

Today's match against FIU was played to decision and FIU took the match by winning on courts five, two and one. Emma Andraka and Ella Alexander were in the third set on court four and Adriana Pereira and Jessica Ennis were in the second set on court three when the match ended.

Along with setting the school record for team wins, Brooke Pertuit tied the school record with 22 individual wins and freshman Jasmine Haas established a new freshman record with 20 wins. These two became just the fourth and fifth Blazers in school history to win 20 matches in a season.

In three seasons as UAB's head coach, Terri Del Conte has compiled 47 wins with 12 coming in 2021, 17 in 2022 and 18 in 2023.
