BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team had a league-best three players earn Conference USA All-Academic First Team honors, as announced by conference officials on Wednesday.
Ella Alexander, Emma Andraka and Adriana Pereria all earned a spot on the 10-person C-USA All-Academic team. For Alexander, this is her second straight year earning C-USA All-Academic honors and she is the only repeat selection in the conference on this year's team.
Alexander is set to graduate this weekend with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and carries a 3.82 GPA. On the court, she is one of the winningest players in program history with 47 victories and looks to become just the fourth player in school history to reach the 50-wins plateau this week at the C-USA Championship. In 2022, Alexander set UAB's single season school record with 22 wins.
Andraka, who is the winningest player in school history with 57 victories, will graduate this weekend with her Master's degree in Neuroscience. Andraka earned both her undergrad and Master's degree in Neuroscience and will start her PhD program in Neuroscience this Fall at Mount Sinai in New York City. Andraka has been a staple in UAB's lineup since 2019 and has appeared on every court during her time at UAB.
Pereira also graduates this weekend with a 3.84 GPA in Kinesiology with a concentration in exercise science. Pereira joins Alexander and Andraka as one of the most decorated players in program history after setting the single season school record with 20 Court 1 wins in 2022. The 2023 Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year, Pereira will pursue a doctorate in physical therapy.
These three seniors form the winningest class in program history and have combined for over 140 individual wins and 64 team wins.
The Blazers play UTEP in the first round of the C-USA Championship on Thursday and look to punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament for first time in school history by winning the league title in Ft. Lauderdale.
