UAB Men’s Tennis Goes 2-1 on Senior Day

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's tennis (18-6) defeated Wallace State and West Alabama but fell in a tightly contested match to No. 49 UCF. Michal Lusovsky, Roman Postolka, Nikola Puric and Thanos Spyropoulos were recognized prior to the final match for Senior Day.
UAB 6, Wallace State 1
The Blazers took control of the first match of the day early by taking the doubles point. UAB took five of six singles matches, including Nikola Puric on Court One. Puric moves to 5-1 on the year in singles play. Chase Parker picked up his third singles win of the season in straight sets at 6-1, 6-1 on Court Five.
UCF 4, UAB 2
UAB took No. 49 UCF down to the wire but fell just short against the Knights. UCF was able to capture the doubles point with wins on Court One and Court Two.
In singles play, the Knights were able to take Court Five and Court Three to take a 3-0 lead in the match, but the Blazers did not go away. Roman Postolka took Court Two with a 6-4, 7-6 [7-2] win and Carlos Gimenez Perez won 6-4, 6-4 on Court Six to make it 3-2.
With two courts remaining, UCF won on Court Four to clinch the match. Michal Lusovsky was leading 5-3 in the third set on Court One when the Knights clinched it.
UAB 4, West Alabama 0
The Blazers concluded Senior Day with a win over West Alabama. UAB opened the match by securing the doubles point with wins on Court One and Court Three.
Roman Postolka took Court Two to give UAB a quick 2-0 lead and Kaustubh Holcomb took Court Six to push the advantage to 3-0. Parker Bradbary concluded the contest with a 6-4, 6-2 win.

The Blazers will travel to New Orleans to face the Privateers on Saturday, April 15 at noon.
