UAB Beach Volleyball Goes 3-2 at Tiger Beach Challenge

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team finished 3-2 at the Tiger Beach Challenge in Baton Rouge this weekend at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
The Blazers improved their overall record to 5-4 on the season with wins over Central Arkansas, North Alabama and Tusculum University. UAB suffered losses to nationally ranked opponents #19 South Carolina and #5 LSU.
UAB opened the weekend by suffering a 4-1 defeat to South Carolina and then fell to the host Tigers 5-0. From there, UAB reeled off three straight wins with a 4-1 victory over Central Arkansas to conclude action on Saturday, and then won both matches on Sunday with a pair of 3-2 victories over North Alabama and Tusculum.
UAB's top pair of junior Brooke Pertuit and freshman Jasmine Haas finished the weekend at 4-1 overall, which included a victory over South Carolina's top duo on Court 1. This was the first weekend the two have played together, and they both now own a team-best 6-3 overall individual record.
Up next, the Blazers head out west for a tournament at Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif., followed by hosting in Gulf Shores, Ala., for the fifth annual March To May.
