UAB Bowling Makes Program History at MEAC Championships

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Bowling team made program history after finishing third at the MEAC Championships this past weekend – the best postseason run to date.

Entering the tournament, UAB sat fifth seed (42-60, 8-8). Jamie Kransigor was named to the All-MEAC Third-Team during the opening ceremonies.

Here's how the Blazers bowled their way to third:

Friday, March 24 –
Mega Match vs. Morgan State (0-2)

Morgan State swept UAB after winning the traditional match (937-793) and the Baker Total Pinfall (939-864).
UAB moved to an elimination on Friday afternoon

Mega Match vs. Howard (2-0)

UAB turned around to swept and eliminate Howard
The Blazers won the traditional match (878-749) where Shauna Rodgers led UAB with a 206
UAB also won the Baker Total Pinfall match (924-698)

Saturday, March 25 –
Elimination Mega Match vs. No. 2 seed Maryland Eastern Shore

UAB held the upset of the tournament after sweeping the No. 2 seed UMES (2-0)
Led by Jamie Kransigor (216) and Keagan Trexler (210), the Blazers won the traditional match (856-752)
UAB also won the Baker Match (910-839)

Mega Match vs. Coppin State (2-1)

Blazers forced a Baker Best-of-Seven match after Coppin State won the traditional match, but UAB won the Baker Total Pinfall
Traditional – L, (865-887)
Baker Total Pinfalls – W, (820-800)
Baker Best-of-Seven – W, (4-1)

Sunday, March 26 –
Elimination Match vs. Monmouth (1-2)

Monmouth won the traditional match (937-850), but UAB won the Baker Total Pinfall (881-831) to force a Baker Best-of-Seven match
The teams were tied 2-2 heading into game five before Monmouth took control and won 4-2
The Blazers finish third overall

At the closing ceremonies, Krasnigor was named to the All-Tournament Team. The Blazers end the MEAC Championship sitting third (45-62) while making program history.
