Track & Field Starts Strong at Tiger Track Classic

AUBURN – UAB Track & Field Concludes the first day of the Tiger Track Classic on a positive note, setting the tone in their first outdoor meet for the 2023 season.
"We started the meet well. We had some weather delays, wet weather, and the girls didn't let it bother them. They competed well to start the outdoor season." said head coach Kurt Thompson.
The meet, despite weather concerns, bode well in field and running events. Five Blazers finished in the top ten including personal bests and setting the tone with season-opening bests for first-year athletes.
For Trinity Fellows, she finished the day beating out her outdoor record in pole vault with a jump of 3.55m. Her jump placed her fifth overall in the event. In long jump, Averie Foster closed out with a 5.34m, placing ninth overall.
"Trinity vaulted well and has a new outdoor PR, and the javelin throwers got some good season opening throws in," said Thomas. "Avery got some solid long jumps in and made finals. We want this competitive spirit to continue tomorrow for day two."
