UAB Beach Volleyball Goes 2-2 on Opening Weekend in Houston

HOUSTON β The UAB beach volleyball team finished its opening weekend with a 2-2 record at the Third Coast College Classic hosted by Houston Christian.

The Blazers split a pair of matches each on Saturday and Sunday. UAB opened the season with a 3-2 victory over Texas A&M β Corpus Christi before falling to No. 3 TCU 5-0 on Saturday. Sunday's action saw UAB top Central Arkansas 4-1 and then concluded the tournament with a 3-2 loss to host HCU.

UAB's pairs on courts one through four all finished with records of 2-2. On Court 1, Adriana Pereira and Brooke Pertuit won both of their matches on Sunday. Court 5 for the Blazers went 1-3 on the weekend but picked up a win in the finale as Ellie Heflin and Olivia Chychrun tallied a three-set victory.

The Blazers return to action next Saturday and Sunday, March 4-5, at the Tiger Beach Challenged hosted by LSU. While in Baton Rouge, the Blazers will face No. 19 South Carolina, No. 5 LSU, Central Arkansas, North Alabama and Tusculum University. Β
