UAB Bowling Takes Home Second Place in ISTAP Hornet Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The UAB Bowling team finished second (5-5) out of six teams in the ISTAP Hornet Classic in Montgomery, Ala. hosted by Alabama State this past weekend.
In Friday's five baker matches, the Blazers went 2-3 where they lost match one to the tournament host Alabama State (829-1,000), responded with a win in match two and match three against Emmanuel (961-867) and Grambling (846-704), lost in match four to Alabama A&M (839-958) and dropped a very tight match five to Florida A&M (916-924).
On Saturday, the Blazers went 3-2 in their five traditional team matches with a win against Florida A&M (926-910), a loss on a tiebreaker to Alabama A&M (824-824), a lop-sided win over Grambling State (998-699), a loss to Emmanuel (855-872) and a win to round out the day against Alabama State (1,087-775).
On Sunday's best four-out-of-seven baker game bracket play, the Blazers won the first two rounds over Florida A&M and Grambling State before losing in the first-place game to Alabama State for a second-place finish.
Individually, the Blazers had four players – Keagan Trexler, Madison Colston, Victoria Cobos and Savannah Schneider - finish in the top 10, with Keagan Trexler finishing in third place overall and being nominated to the All-Tournament team.
Trexler recorded a total of 969 pins over five games for an average of 193.80 pins per game, propelling her to her first All-Tournament team nomination in her UAB Bowling career.
