BIRMINGHAM – Madison Colston continues to impress, as Colston has been named the MEAC Rookie of the Week for Week 5 for her performance in MEAC #1 hosted by Coppin State.
This is the third time Colston has been awarded the MEAC Rookie of the Week, previously having won it in Week 1 from her performance in the Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by Tulane and Week 3 after the Destination Orlando hosted by Sacred Heart, making her the only player in the MEAC who has been awarded the honor multiple times this season.
Colston now has received the most MEAC Rookie of the Week Awards in a season in UAB Bowling history with three - in just five weeks - passing teammate Madelynn Oliva who won the award twice in the 22-23 season.
In MEAC #1, Colston averaged 17.56 pins per frame, a 34.4 strike percentage and averaged 8.68 pins on first ball to help lead the Blazers to a fourth-place finish in the conference tournament. The freshman from Pinellas Park, Fla. now leads the Blazers in point average per frame (19.22), fill percentage (80.9), strikes (166) and first ball pin fall average (8.88) so far this season.
Colston and the Blazers play next in the Hornet Classic in Montgomery, Ala. hosted by Alabama State on Nov. 18 through Nov. 20.
