Track & Field Names Kayla Woulard as Assisstant Coach

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track and Field announced the hire of Kayla Woulard as the Assistant Coach of Multis/Jumps. The Announcement came on September 18, welcoming the FIU Alumna for her first season coaching at the NCAA Division I level.
"I am excited to have Kayla on our staff. She comes from a good coaching pedigree and a family of coaches, so she understands our job serving student-athletes," said head coach Kurt Thomas. "She has competed at this level and in C-USA, so she knows many of our competing schools. She's passionate about developing our student-athletes and our sport."
Woulard hails from Gifford, Florida. She furthered her track career attending Florida International University in sprints and jumps. As the team captain of the Panthers, She posted a career-best 1.55m in the high jump at the C-USA Conference Championships her senior year. She placed top-ten in 28 events spanning her collegiate career as a Panther.
Upon graduating from FIU, Woulard served as coach and educator at Vero Beach High School. She would coach varsity girls basketball, boys and girls cross country, and track and field, where in her first year as the cross country coach, she led the team to the State Championship for the first time in five years. In track and field, she led the Fighting Indians to a 4A District Championship in her first year, with the team finishing fourth in the region.
As the head basketball coach, Woulard helped her team to a 4A Final Four appearance and District and Regional championship in the 2021-22 season. She was named the Treasure Coast Palm Coach of the Year in 2022 after a 23-4 season record.
"I am thrilled to join the UAB family as the new Track and Field Assistant Coach. It is an honor to work with such talented athletes and a dedicated coaching staff," said Woulard. "I look forward to contributing to the team's success and helping our athletes reach their full potential."
