Men's Tennis Announces Fall Schedule
BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's tennis has announced the 2022 fall slate with eight competitions, kicking off Sept. 16-18 with the Samford Invitational and the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. The Blazers finished the 2021-22 season with an 8-15 record in their first season under head coach Justin Desanto.
"This fall we have put together a schedule that allows our guys many opportunities to compete against high quality opponents. Our goal is to have our guys compete as much as possible in order to really get an idea of where we are at going into the spring dual match season." Desanto said, "Trey and I see this schedule as a great chance for our guys to be tested but also succeed."
UAB will then return to the Samford Campus for a second time in the fall for another invitational hosted by the cross-town rival from Sept. 30-Oct. 2. Other Blazers will also travel to Tulsa to participate in the ITA Men's All-American Championships from Oct. 1-9.
More Blazers will be in action just down the road in Tuscaloosa for the ITA Southern Regionals hosted by the University of Alabama from Oct. 13-17.
The Blazers will then head to a pair of tournaments including the ITF Pro Futures Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla. (Oct. 24-30) and the Chattanooga Hidden Duals (Oct. 28-30). To close out the fall slate, the Blazers will host the Country Club of Birmingham Tournament from Nov. 4-6.
Entering the 2022-23 season, UAB returns all six of its singles contributors from last season, including Michal Lusovsky, who posted a 15-6 record on court one, winning 11 of his final 12 matches.
