Grayson Cash Named to Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List

BIRMINGHAM – Senior safety Grayson Cash has been named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, which is annually presented to the nation's most outstanding defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
Cash made some of the biggest plays of the season last year en route to earning Second Team All-Conference USA honors. Highlighted by a 100-yard pick six against Florida Atlantic and a blocked punt which he recovered for a touchdown at Southern Miss, Cash ended the season with 23 tackles, three interceptions, four pass breakups and two blocked punts.
With six career interceptions, Cash's next INT will move him into the top 10 all-time at UAB in that category.
Cash is one of three remaining players who has been on the team since the Blazers made their return to the playing field in 2017. Fellow safety Will Boler and outside linebacker Kyle Harrell are the other two.
The FWAA All-America Committee, after voting input from the association's full membership, selects a 26-man All-America Team and eventually the Nagurski Trophy finalists. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy winner will be chosen from the five finalists named in November. Committee members, by individual ballot, select the winner they regard as the best defensive player in college football.
