Ryan Heisey Promoted to Men’s Golf Associate Head Coach

BIRMINGHAM – Head Coach Matt Whall has announced the promotion of assistant coach Ryan Heisey to Associate Head Coach, effective immediately.
Heisey is midway through his second season at UAB, and since his arrival the Blazers have exceled on the national scene.
The 36th-ranked Blazers are currently 54-13-0 overall this year and are poised for a return trip to NCAAs this season. In Heisey's first season, he helped guide the Blazers to a 24th-place finish at the 2021 NCAA National Championship.
"I am so pleased to announce Coach Heisey's title change to Associate Head Coach of the men's golf program here at UAB. Coach Heisey has been a huge part of the success of this program during his time here and this is a very deserving change. During the coaching transition, Coach Heisey has fully engaged and bought into the vision for the future of this program and moving us into the elite of college golf in the coming years.
"He brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and character to the role and each player has benefited tremendously from his leadership. I can't thank him enough for all his hard work and dedication to these young men and I am excited to see what we can achieve together moving forward."
Heisey has contributed to the success of reigning Conference USA Golfer of the Year Nick Robillard, who currently ranks No. 42 nationally, and sophomore Khavish Varadan who is the nation's 36th ranked golfer.
"I'm honored to be given this opportunity," Heisey said. "I can't thank Director of Athletics Mark Ingram and Head Coach Matt Whall enough for their leadership and for trusting me in this new role as Associate Head Coach. I am energized and excited to continue working hard as a team and to Win As One!"
UAB looks to continue its elite level of play next weekend as the Blazers participate in the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate hosted by Coastal Carolina in Henderson, Nev.
