Dylan Hopkins Named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – For leading the Blazers to a 34-20 victory over Charlotte on Saturday, quarterback Dylan Hopkins has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week.
Hopkins threw for 231 yards and a touchdown while rushing for over 100 yards for just the second time in his career.
The Maryville, Tenn. native carried the Blazers to a second straight conference victory, sealing the win with a 61-yard touchdown run in the final minutes of the game.
With 103 yards on the ground on Saturday, Hopkins moved into 8th all-time for career rushing yards by a quarterback in UAB history. Hopkins also moves to 5th all-time for career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, passing Kevin Drake with eight during his time as a Blazer.
Hopkins has currently thrown for 1,170 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions this season, while completing 66.7 percent of his passes. Against Charlotte, he surpassed 4,000 career passing yards (4,007) which ranks him 6th all-time at UAB. He is 14-7 as the starting quarterback.
Hopkins becomes the third Blazer to win Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week in 2022, along with RB DeWayne McBride (Sept. 19) and wide receiver Trea Shropshire (Oct. 10).
UAB will travel to Bowling Green to take on Western Kentucky this Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Houchens-Industries L. T. Smith Stadium on CBS Sports Network.
