UAB Rifle Announces 2021-22 Competition Schedule

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB rifle team and head coach Lori Goodwin have announced their schedule for the 2021-22 season, featuring nine regular season matches before NCAA Qualifiers and the SoCon Championships.
"I'm excited to see our team compete this season," Goodwin said. "We have a great team this year, and we are looking forward to competing for another Southern Conference Championship.
"We look forward to the challenge this schedule presents us with many strong opponents."
UAB opens its 2021-22 campaign on Oct. 2 when the Blazers travel to Charleston, South Carolina, to battle Citadel. The Blazers finished one spot ahead of the Bulldogs in this past season's final NCAA rankings, slotting in at No. 18.
The Blazers will then head East for a matchup against Georgia Southern on Oct. 16. UAB will close out October with its third and final match of the month at Wofford on Oct. 30.
UAB will then conclude its fall slate with a pair of matches in November, first traveling to Lexington, Virginia, for a matchup against VMI on Nov. 13 before making the short trip to Jacksonville, Alabama, to take on Jacksonville State. The Blazers placed two spots higher than VMI at this past season's SoCon Championships.
The Green and Gold will then begin their spring slate with matches on back-to-back days in January. UAB will face Murray State on Jan. 21 and UT Martin on Jan. 22 to open the second portion of its schedule.
UAB will then head back to Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Jan. 29 for its second match of the season at Wofford. The Blazers will then stay in state for its second matchup of the 2021-22 campaign against Jacksonville State on Feb. 5.
The Blazers will then compete in their NCAA Qualifiers on Feb. 19 in Statesboro, Georgia, before traveling to VMI for the SoCon Championships on March 5-6.
UAB earned bronze at this past season's championships, finishing just behind North Georgia and Georgia Southern. The Blazers will look to capture their third SoCon title in four years in March.
