BIRMINGHAM – First-year head coach Justin DeSanto announced the 2021 fall men's tennis schedule on Thursday morning. The Blazers will play in five fall tournaments, opening their fall campaign at Samford this weekend.
With the Second Team All-Conference USA doubles team of Roman Postolka and Michal Lusovsky returning, the Blazers will look to build off their fall matches before opening the regular season in winter 2022.
"For the fall semester, we really wanted to give our guys a lot of opportunity to compete," DeSanto said. "With our schedule, we look forward to getting in a lot of matches against great programs in order to get us ready for a tough spring schedule."
The Blazers open their fall schedule with a short trip to Samford for the Samford Fall Invite #1 from Sept. 17-19. The Blazers will look to avenge their regular season opening loss to the Bulldogs from a season ago in their first fall competition with DeSanto as head coach.
UAB will then travel to C-USA foe Southern Miss for the Southern Miss Hidden Duals from Sept. 24-26. Lusovsky and Postolka each earned singles victories along with a win in doubles play in this past year's regular season match against the Golden Eagles. Fellow Blazer Vojtech Podzemny also earned a singles victory in the narrow 4-3 defeat to Southern Miss.
The Blazers will then travel to the ITA All-American Championships held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from Oct. 2-10. The ITA Regionals will follow just two weeks later in Auburn, Alabama, from Oct. 14-19.
UAB will close out its 2021 fall schedule in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic from Oct. 15-17. The Blazers have faced UTC during the regular season the past two years.
