BIRMINGHAM – Following Tuesday's first day of fall camp, the Blazers returned to the field on Wednesday with exactly four weeks remaining until the season opener at the Montgomery Kickoff against Jacksonville State.
"Today was a lot better," said head coach Bill Clark. "For us, it's understanding that practice is not a sprint, it's a marathon. What does that look like? It was night and day better. Now, can they keep it up? Granted, we have tons of things to work on and get better at, but they practiced together today and took care of each other. They had good focus so I was pleased."

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- The Blazers had a very good day on the practice field and Coach Clark was happy with the team's effort, focus and energy. The Blazers were once again just in helmets and will begin to increase the physicality when shoulder pads go on.
- Sophomore running back and Doak Walker Award Watch List member DeWayne McBride looks poised and ready to take over for UAB's career leading rusher Spencer Brown (Carolina Panthers). McBride, who has lost 10 pounds in the off season, looks sharp through the first two days of practice and has shown an ability to catch the ball out of the backfield as well. McBride averaged 9.3 yards per carry last season as a true freshman.
- Single Game Tickets on Sale: Today marks the first day fans can purchase single game tickets to all five of UAB's home games, along with the neutral site game in Montgomery against Jacksonville State and away games such as at Georgia and at Tulane. Season tickets are still on sale, and fans should purchase tickets as soon as possible to secure a spot inside Protective Stadium for the Grand Opening on Oct. 2 vs. Liberty.
